They are thousands and they are everywhere, always running around, always worried, always loving.
They are nurses, teachers, cooks, seamstresses, storytellers, drivers, and living encyclopedias. They are psychologists, career counsellors, stylists, accountants, and event planners. They hunt down monsters and pick flowers. They do tea with princesses and build castles. They turn the couch into a boat and a long trip into an adventure. Their voice is the softest and their arms are the coziest. THey have the ability to amaze with nothing. They heal wounds with their magical kiss, they dry tears and know how to erase grief. They know the true value of a hug and the importance of saying “I love you” over and over again.
They would often like to have 8 eyes and as many arms. They hope for some down time to take a breath, and when these moments occur they miss the noise. They often forget themselves. They are soft and sometimes tough. They encourage achievement, helping others, and forgiveness. They are patient, attentive, and devoted. They are beautiful and inspiring role models, strong and fragile all at once. They are often tired but above all else they are happy.
They are always there.
They are mothers.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms, grandmoms, and great-grandmoms out there who always give out the very best of yourselves.
